| Abstract |
|
A case of a 23-year-old woman with thoracolumbar back pain due to the traffic
accident 16 days prior to admission is presented. Neurological examination showed hypoesthesia
on the left of T12; L2 dermatome. CT-myelography demonstrated a contrast-filled cyic lesion
occupying the posterior epidural space; with lateral bulging through neural foramina and anterior
displacement of the contrast-filled thecal sac. MRI scan showed an extradural pure cystic signal
intensities which lied posterolateral to the spinal cord extending from T12 to L2 vertebra level.
The mass was excised totally with hemilaminectomy from lower half of T12 to upper half of L2.
The cystic mass was histologically diagnosed as a arachnoid cyst. |
