Aging-Related Cognitive Decline
노화에 관련된 인지기능 감퇴
박종한; 김희철
Abstract
A variety of concepts were proposed to explain cognitive decline related to aging. They are benign senescent forgetfulness, very mild cognitive decline, questionable dementia, minimal dementia, age-associated memory impairment, age-associated cognitive decline, age-related cognitive decline, and age-related memory decline. Some of them are overstrict while others are vague in definition. Any one is not satisfactory to elucidate the nature of aging-related cognitive decline. Some people with such decline appear to further deteriorate in terms of cognitive function, resulting in development of Alzheimer's disease while others remain at the long-term follow-up as they were. More rational concept and appropriate definition should be pursued and underlying biological mechanisms should be explored.
Key Words: 노화, 인지기능, Aging, Cognition, Dementia, Memory
