Abstract |
AD is one of the most prevalent degenerative CNS diseases among the elderly. It is characterized by the insidious onset and relentless gradual progression of symptoms and is manifested with a variety of impairments in neurocognitive functions, mental symptoms and functions. There is no causative treatment for the condition. Average survival is estimated 7 to 10 years, ranging from 2 to 25 years, from the onset of clinical symptoms. Pneumonia is the most frequent cause of death in the late stage. |
