권학수; 김희철; 김정범
Abstract
Currently; the effects of combining medications with cognitive-behavior therapy(CBT) for patients of panic disorder with or without agoraphobia are not clear; even though such combinations are frequently used in clinical practice. The rationale; advantages and disadvantages; outcome data; methods of integrated treatment approaches; and conclusions were presented. Data from review articles and meta-analysis of the treatment of panic disorder; and studies combining antipanic drugs and CBT are reviewed; and their application to clincal practice is discussed. The existing data support the value of integrated approaches in the short term. The strongest support for combined treatment is for the addition of CBT to pharmacotherapy for patients with agoraphobia and for those whose benzodiazepines treatment is being discontinued. Conclusionally; combined treatment may be advantageous for some patients; but much more research is needed regarding optimal integration of cognitive-behavioral and pharmacological approaches to panic disorder.
